What are characteristics of engineering-specific data? I.e. what is typical for data in engineering? (Although engineering sciences are a broad field.)

And in addition, what are examples of domain knowledge in engineering data or to understand engineering data?

Hi, please have a look at the NFDI4ING Search Index for Research Data in Engineering Sciences: https://data.nfdi4ing.de/
There you will find engineering data (e.g. from TU9 universites and others) which often include workflow and measurement descriptions (in addition to the actual factual data sheets) as well as (references to) software code and/or applications.

Examples of domain knowledge in engineering data publications: Data sets with high quality metadata often include full text titles (instead of acronyms), detailed workflow/measurement descriptions, mentioning of own or related projects and/or working groups, DFG classification (if applicable), as well as clear information on data reuse (license information) and contact information.

The NFDI4ING Q&A platform is here to empower researchers in the engineering sciences with a collaborative space to ask and answer questions about their research data management. Whether you're a seasoned expert or just starting out, this platform is designed to foster knowledge exchange and support your research journey.
